General settings
Maximum client connections Up to 150 users (including remote administrators) can simultaneously visit your Web site. If you are hosting multiple sites, the maximum applies to all sites combined. To improve Web server performance, you can allow fewer simultaneous Web connections. Allow Guest access Select this option if you want to allow people who are not registered users to access your Web site. Enable Web log The Web log is a file that contains a list of errors and information about connections to your Web site. If you have multiple Web sites, information for all of them is stored in one log file named "HTTP Log." The log file is stored in the HTTP Log folder, inside the AppleShare IP Preferences folder (in the Preferences folder in the System Folder). If there is not enough hard disk space, nothing is saved to the HTTP Log file. Log format: List directory contents if no default document If a user connects to a Web folder without specifying a filename, the browser looks in the folder for a home page. If there is no default document page, the browser displays a directory listing (a clickable list of the folder's contents). You have the most control over what users see if you do not list directory contents and provide a default document name. Allow administration via AppleShare IP Remote Admin Turn on this option to use a Web browser to administer AppleShare IP services. Register with Network Services Location In most cases it's best to turn on this option. This option, which allows users to browse all servers available to them, is available to client computers that have Mac OS 9 installed. If you turn on this option, you must also enable and configure Service Location Protocol (SLP) on your network router. Current Web folder The Web folder is named "Web Folder" and is located at the top level of the Web server's hard disk. Default document name: If there is no default document name and "List directory contents" is selected, users see a directory listing. If there is no default document name and "List directory contents" is not selected, the browser displays an error message. Related topic
